BK Admin

Description
BK Admin is an internal restaurant management platform built for Burger King. It helps restaurant managers and HQ employees manage menus, kiosks, promotions, shifts, orders, and reports through a single web application.
Overview
The company replaced a third-party solution with its own product to gain more flexibility, scalability, and control over operational processes. The product is a browser-based enterprise application with both light and dark themes.
Our team was responsible for designing and evolving the internal admin platform used across Burger King restaurants.
My work focused on improving usability for operational staff while making the design system scalable for future product growth.

Role & Process
This was a B2E product — the users were internal staff, not consumers. That shifted the design priorities significantly: clarity, efficiency, and error prevention mattered more than visual delight. I worked closely with business analysts as the primary stakeholders, running alignment meetings throughout each task cycle before finalising layouts.
My responsibilities included:
Designing new features for complex enterprise workflows
Creating tables, forms, navigation patterns and management interfaces
Introducing Design Tokens for Light & Dark themes
Running field research in Burger King restaurants
Maintaining the component library and documenting UI guidelines
Benchmarking enterprise products and documenting UX guidelines
Collaborating closely with analysts and engineers throughout implementation
For complex features I usually followed this workflow:
Requirements analysis
Existing system audit
Benchmark research
User flow design
Design presentations with stakeholders
Final UI implementation
Development handoff
Design review after release
Goals
The main product goals were:
Improve usability of complex administrative workflows
Create a scalable design foundation for future development
Unify several legacy admin systems into one consistent platform
Reduce implementation effort for both designers and developer
Support Light and Dark themes through a token-based Design System
Results
My contribution helped improve both the product and internal design processes.
Key achievements:
Colour token system implemented across the product, enabling dark mode without layout duplication and reducing development handoff errors
Mobile app admin panel migrated to BK Admin within a 1.5-month deadline, maintaining visual consistency and preserving user familiarity
Simplified several operational workflows by removing unnecessary functionality while preserving business requirements
Field research validated design hypotheses and surfaced operational edge cases before they reached development
Design system documentation and workshops improved team-wide adoption of new standards

Due to NDA restrictions, product visuals and business metrics are partially hidden.
